Children’s music
From a AP story on teen cell-phone use:
CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) — There were two things 11-year-old Patty Wiegner really, really, really wanted for Christmas. One was a furry, playful dog that’s now filling her parents’ home with the sound of barking. The other gift makes a different kind of noise — it has a ring tone that mimics rapper 50 Cent’s hit song “Candy Shop.”
So she’s a 50 Cent fan. Cool.
Here’s the front-page image from his Web site, which features info about his latest album, “The Massacre”:

(No, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with his music. But if my 11-year old was listening to it, I think I’d say, “Wait till you’re older.” I would say the same for watching, say, “Silence of the Lambs.” But that’s just me.)

Old topics… oh well..
50 cent is sadly mixed up in an industry that perpetuated racial stereotypes. I actually like 50cents music but I find how he is advertised to be just wrong. I remember seeing a cd cover for one of his albums and he was all greased up.
I am sure he was greased up to accent his musculature but what came to mind to me was the greasing up of slaves before they were sold. Sorta like 50 cent was a slave of the music industry and they had greased him up ready for sale. I found the cover disgusting. And I find the music industries perpetuation of negative racial stereotypes to be completely wrong.

I also find the “agging on” of the 50 cent - Kanye West feud to be wrong on the medias part.
