You don’t have to live like a refugee

Published 9/12/05

The photo below of one Kimi Reynolds, Katrina refugee, has been in lots of papers — the face of despair.

Hopefully not too much despair, though. Ms. Reynolds was, apparently, able to get out of danger with several pairs of brand-new sneakers I’m sure she just purchased.

If you look closely, you can see the tags still on ‘em.

Questionable Insinuation says:

So, her home is destroyed, her job (if she had one) is gone, she has no city and she’s stuck in the middle of nowhere. BUT, she took some shoes! Well, she should certainly be shot! I mean, gosh, who does she think she is? Why doesn’t she just buy those $90 Nike Trainers and throw them in the back of her SUV like everyone else? The nerve.

Look at the shoes she has on her feet? What about her kids? Their shoes are probably severely water damaged.

Keep adding to the blatant media racism. You just don’t understand, do you?

Those people having nothing to lose because THEY HAVE NOTHING.

Racism? I would have posted the same photo and comment if she was white. How do you figure it’s racism, unless your logic is that any portrayal of a non-white in a negative manner is racism.

John says:

Hey Damien, how do you get water damaged shoes? The whole concept of water damaged shoes is just stupid. Have your shoes ever got wet, are they damaged to the point you can’t wear them? No.. thought so… neither have I weird. the fact of the matter is that this is a person stealing stuff in a time of disaster.
