Didja Know that the new Senate will have only one independent member? James Jeffords of Vermont is an indy, but Joe Lieberman of Connecticut is not — technically, Lieberman is a member of the Connecticut for Lieberman party, while Jeffords has no party affiliation.

Unfortunately, Joe has already mended his fences with the Democrats. That shows he is a man of principal and character willing to stand for what he believes in rather then stick it to the people that rejected him.

Sadly that stance also relieves him of a great deal of latitude he would have had as a true independent.
