Adidas needs to fire its Web designer

Published 10/17/07

If you want to check out an awful, awful Web site, go to Adidas. Wow.

I saw an Adidas backpack that I wanted more info on, so I hit the site. I left without getting the info because the site was so bad.

  • You can’t skip the opening Flash animation.
  • The links are all but useless — “Originals” doesn’t tell me a damn thing. How about “Men’s shoes,” “Women’s shoes,” etc.?
  • Every page is a Flash page that isn’t always quick to load. All I want is some info on one of your frakking backpacks!

Wake up, guys. People aren’t coming to your site to be dazzled. They’re coming to get product information. You wasted a ton of time and money creating a flashy site that prevents people from doing that.

Blech.

Emon says:

Yes, companies do get carried away with flash intros . Nightmare for people with dial-up or so called ‘high-speed’ internet (recently found out that Time Warner’s Roadrunner has different levels of connection, meaning you think you have 5mbps or over, but in reality, only 600 kbps). Enough to be an outrage.

Anyway, the main problem, I found visiting the Adidas site, is the pop-up blocker on my browser that prevents from opening up the third party e-store. Once there, it was a breeze finding items. Did you have problems there as well?

I can beat you on bad web design. They’ve changed it since, but the website (which was a band website, I was looking for concert information) had just a door… with a lamp.

And you had to figure out the PUZZLE to get in.

You want to talk inconvenience?

That is pretty annoying, although about the time you discover you can’t turn it off, it ends.

The Y3 intro I like. Very Sin City-ish except no one puts the bitch out of her misery at the end.
