McCain: "[T]his is the agenda I have set before my fellow prisoners…"

Published 10/8/08

In a speech today, McCain referred to his fellow Americans as “my fellow prisoners.” Clearly, unambiguously, unintentionally. Old age setting in?

Dorene says:

I really like that Sarah Palin doesn’t even react to him saying that. Maybe she thinks it’s an apt enough name for us these days. Or maybe she was busy thinking about shooting wolves with her semi-automatic.

Its easy to blame it on him being old and befuddled, but he’s been saying things like this for years. Its a common case of aphasia (sp?) that many people have. Not exactly what we hope for in a President, but it doesn’t impact his ability to govern that much.

His recklessness, lying factc (votevets.org)heck.org, newsweek), dishonerable treatment of vets, ideology, mindless support of deregulation, and gambling by picking a completely unqalified VP pick - those are the things we should be concerned about.

But you have to love this election - if you like Bushand the republicain economy, McCain is your guy. If you don’t, Obama is your guy. There is a world of difference between these candidates and the choices are clear.

I heard the slip, and just chuckled. Right up there with Obama’s comment of visiting 57 states. Simple goof, and easily mocked but meaningless beyond that.

I do find Gov. Palin’s non-reaction more interesting, however.

Palin is so clueless - sh has no idea how dumb she is. Like a pit bull I own - affable, but dumber than a box of rocks. Even without lipstick. But I don’t blame her; McCain is the one willing to gamble the company on someone that makes Dan Quayle look like a spelling champ.

I got to give McCain props for standing up against the mob his campaign has created against Obama. It was quite “mavericky”and he got booed for it. It wasn’t a very smart political move to incite people to hatred and then say to be respectful, but I think McCain had a moment of clarity and saw the monster he has allowed to be created and understood what it means to American Politics. I can’t say much good about McCain, but for a moment we saw a glimmer of the guy that ran in 2000 that I had some respect for.
